Leheriya Festival Celebrates Women’s Power in Sawan Month – Speaker Highlights Operation Sindoor as a Symbol of Sisters’ Raksha Sutra

Jaipur : Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Wednesday participated in the Satrangi Leheriya Mahotsav held in Ajmer district as part of the traditional celebrations of the holy month of Sawan. He encouraged and felicitated the participating women (Matrushakti) and also viewed the exhibition organized during the festival, which celebrated traditional attire and cultural heritage.

Speaking at the event, Speaker Devnani said that Indian women today are making their mark globally and that both the Central and State governments stand firmly behind them at every step. He emphasized that Indian women are symbols of discipline, bravery, courage, and sacrifice.

Referring to the recent military success, Devnani said, “The success of Operation Sindoor is the culmination of the Raksha Sutra (protective thread) tied by the sisters of the country on the wrists of our brave soldiers. This operation reflects the strength of women’s blessings and support for the nation’s defenders.”

The Speaker highlighted that the month of Sawan is considered the month of festivals in Indian culture and that organizing the Leheriya Mahotsav during this time enhances the joy of the festivities. He pointed out that Raksha Bandhan, which falls in this month, is a festival dedicated to sisters tying the sacred thread on their brothers’ wrists, a tradition that symbolizes love and protection.

During the Mahotsav, exhibitions were also organized by the Central and State governments showcasing initiatives related to women’s self-reliance and self-respect.

Speaker Devnani said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people to tie handmade Rakhis on this sacred festival, linking it with a sense of personal connection. “This strengthens the bond of emotions along with the Raksha Sutra and inspires brothers to work with greater commitment,” he said, adding that sisters in Ajmer have consistently tied Rakhis to soldiers as a prayer for their safety and as inspiration for their courage.

He underlined that India is not only moving towards self-reliance but also becoming more self-reliant in defense and security, with women playing a vital role in this transformation. “The world is incomplete without women. Sisters have consistently demonstrated their capabilities,” he said, while felicitating outstanding women at the event.

The Satrangi Leheriya Mahotsav also featured a Sawan Bazaar, further adding vibrancy to the festival. Devnani said that the Mahotsav provides new energy to women, which will reflect positively on their families and inspire society as a whole. He also noted that Prime Minister Modi has launched several schemes to honor and empower women across the country.
