Clean Water Supply Initiated through FHTC Connection in Schools and Anganwadi Centre of Siriakhoh Village
Raipur, Aug 2025 : Clean drinking water supply has been initiated through Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) in the Government Primary School, Upgraded Pre-Middle School, and Anganwadi Centre of Siriakhoh village, under Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, thanks to the efforts of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). With this innovation, students studying in these schools and Anganwadi centres, along with the teachers and support staff, now have easy access to clean and safe drinking water within the premises, eliminating the need to go outside for water.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, this initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring safe drinking water supply in Siriakhoh village. The PHED’s efforts are not only contributing to improved child health but are also aiding in the prevention of waterborne diseases. The easy availability of clean water will enhance the quality of both educational and nutritional services provided in schools and Anganwadi centres.
This facility is particularly beneficial for schools and centres in rural areas where water supply was previously limited or entirely absent. Now, adequate water will be available not just for drinking but also for handwashing, cooking, and maintaining hygiene, leading to better sanitation practices and improved child health indicators.
This achievement under the Jal Jeevan Mission is proving to be a milestone in ensuring basic amenities in rural areas. The initiative in Siriakhoh is being viewed as a model that is planned to be replicated in other villages across the district. The children of the village are now enjoying their rightful access to clean drinking water, bringing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Jal’ (Water for Every Household) campaign to fruition at the grassroots level.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the state government, this project has been effectively executed by the Public Health Engineering Department.
