The Role of Women in Media is Commendable

Raipur, Aug 2025 : The Minister’s residence was immersed in the vibrant colors of Sawan as Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade celebrated the festive spirit with women journalists. The special ‘Sawan Milan’ gathering was organized at her residence amidst the lush greenery and festive fervor of the Sawan month. Women journalists from Raipur participated enthusiastically in this celebration. The residence was beautifully decorated with traditional green hues and flowers, enhancing the festive charm of Sawan.

The program was not just a cultural event but also served as a platform for dialogue and empowerment. Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade remarked that Sawan is not merely a season, but a celebration of Indian culture, social unity, and feminine strength. She praised the role of women in journalism, noting that women today are not limited to reporting news; they are also shaping societal narratives, amplifying the voices of the marginalized, and playing a key role in policy advocacy.

Minister Rajwade highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is fully committed to the holistic empowerment of women. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, over 6.9 million women are receiving a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000, fostering self-reliance. So far, ₹11,728 crore has been disbursed to these women over the past 18 months. Under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, over 8,000 marriages have been facilitated during 2024-25 and 2025-26. Additionally, more than 1.2 lakh women have received assistance through the Sakhi One Stop Centers.

During the Sawan Milan celebration, Minister Rajwade joined women journalists in performing traditional dances to Sawan folk songs. Scenes of the Minister sharing snacks (gupchup) and engaging in light-hearted conversations with women reporters added a warm, personal touch to the event.

All participating women journalists were adorned with henna, and the vibrant performances in traditional attire infused life into the gathering. Concluding the event, Minister Rajwade urged the women journalists to help disseminate information about the state government’s welfare schemes for women, ensuring that maximum beneficiaries can avail of these programs.
