CM M.K. Stalin Highlights South Tamil Nadu’s Industrial Rise at Thoothukudi Investors’ Meet
Thoothukudi, Aug 2025:Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin addressed the Thoothukudi Investors’ Conference today, reaffirming his government’s commitment to making Southern Tamil Nadu a hub of industrial growth and high-quality employment opportunities. The event was graced by several ministers including Thiru K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, Thirumathi Geetha Jeevan, Thiru T.M. Anbarasan, Thiru Anita Radhakrishnan, Thiru T.R.P. Raja, Thiru Mahesh Thangamani, Member of Parliament Thirumathi Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and other dignitaries, legislators, and industrialists.
CM Stalin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the entrepreneurs and investors who responded to the Tamil Nadu Government’s call to invest in the state’s developmental journey. He underscored the pivotal role of the Dravidian Model of Governance in transforming Tamil Nadu into a progressive and inclusive economic powerhouse.
Recalling the success of the 2024 Global Investors Meet in Chennai, where numerous MoUs were signed, CM Stalin lauded Minister T.R.P. Raja’s relentless efforts in bringing foreign investments to Tamil Nadu. The government has been conducting investment conclaves in Chennai, Coimbatore, Thoothukudi, Dubai, Japan, and the United States to attract global investors.
CM Stalin emphasized that Southern Tamil Nadu, rich in natural resources, human capital, and a strong industrial ecosystem, is emerging as a key region for industrial expansion. Infrastructure projects such as industrial parks, desalination plants, port upgrades, renewable energy hubs, and food processing clusters are being established in Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Virudhunagar districts.
He announced four major projects for Thoothukudi and Southern Tamil Nadu:
- A 250-acre Space Tech Park in Thoothukudi, focusing on the manufacturing of aerospace components and promoting high-tech industries.
- A Cable Manufacturing Support Centre to bolster Tamil Nadu’s leadership in shipbuilding and industrial cables.
- A Rs. 5.59 crore Agro-Export Facilitation Centre in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli to enhance drumstick exports and allied agriculture clusters.
- A Regional Division of Tamil Nadu Food Processing and Agro Export Corporation in Tirunelveli to boost agro-industrial growth.
Highlighting the achievements of the past four years, Stalin revealed that 898 projects worth Rs. 1,03,348 crore have been secured, ensuring 3,22,895 jobs. Additionally, 41 MoUs with investments of Rs. 32,554 crore and 49,845 jobs have been signed. Under the MSME sector, 19 MoUs amounting to Rs. 2,445 crore with 5,600 jobs have been executed.
CM Stalin also mentioned five new projects that have been launched, attracting investments of Rs. 2,530 crore and generating 36,000 jobs. He announced appointment orders for local youth in companies like Tata Power Solar, Infinix, and Bicycle Infotech-Stark.
He emphasized that these investment agreements span across sectors like semiconductors, electronics, defense, shipbuilding, and green technologies, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a national leader in sustainable industrialization.
With initiatives like the WinFast Renewable Energy Park, CM Stalin said Thoothukudi will not only become an energy hub but also a center for advanced electronics manufacturing. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu is on track to achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030, focusing on attracting high-tech, employment-generating industries in southern districts.
Quoting investor sentiments, Stalin said, “Tamil Nadu has the talent pool ready for any scale of industrial development.” He urged investors to continue choosing Tamil Nadu as their preferred destination.
Ending his address with the slogan “Tamil Nadu Rising”, CM Stalin declared, “Under the Dravidian Model of Governance, Tamil Nadu will keep on rising,” expressing his heartfelt thanks to all participants and stakeholders.
