PM Crop Insurance Scheme: A Protective Shield for Farmers’ Crops
Farmers Can Enroll Until August 31
Borrower Farmers: Deadline August 14 | Non-Borrower Farmers: Deadline August 31
Raipur, Aug 2025:To facilitate farmers, the deadline for enrolling under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has been extended. Borrower farmers can now insure their crops until August 14, 2025, while non-borrower farmers have time until August 31, 2025.
Deputy Director of Agriculture, Rajnandgaon district, Mr. Tikam Singh Thakur, has urged farmers to get their crops insured at the nearest Public Service Center, bank, or cooperative society without delay.
He informed that in 2025 so far, crop insurance has been completed for 1,065.81 hectares in the district. In 2024, under the PMFBY, a total of 1,17,866 farmers were insured in the district — including 1,09,178 borrower farmers and 8,688 non-borrower farmers — covering 1,43,465.56 hectares. Based on post-harvest yield data, 2,733 farmers received a total compensation of ₹6,21,19,101 directly into their bank accounts.
Similarly, in the Rabi season of 2024-25, 31,634 farmers enrolled for crop insurance, comprising 19,473 borrower farmers and 12,161 non-borrower farmers, covering 39,431.58 hectares. Post-harvest yield data shows that compensation worth ₹33,23,21,247 has been calculated for 20,380 farmers, which will be paid through the DG Claim Portal.
It is noteworthy that through PMFBY, farmers are provided with affordable crop insurance, making agricultural production more secure and resilient. The scheme offers comprehensive coverage against all non-preventable natural risks to crops, from sowing to post-harvest stages, based on an area approach.
