CM Dhami Continues to Monitor and Direct Rescue Operations on the Second Day in the District
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami remained in the district for the second day, actively monitoring and directing the rescue operations. He instructed that basic facilities — electricity, drinking water supply, and communication connectivity — in the disaster-affected area be restored on a war footing.
On Thursday late night, the Chief Minister reached the Disaster Control Room in Uttarkashi to review the ongoing disaster relief and rescue efforts in the district. From the Disaster Control Room, he held a high-level meeting via video conference with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the relief operations being carried out in areas affected by the natural disaster caused by a cloudburst in Harshil–Dharali and gave necessary instructions. He directed officials to ensure the availability of relief materials and rescue teams in the affected areas. He also instructed that people affected by the cloudburst, landslides, and heavy rains be moved to safe locations and be provided with basic amenities such as food, water, and medical facilities.
To restore connectivity in the disaster-hit region, the CM directed that VSAT equipment and gensets be transported to the Dharali–Harshil area at the earliest.
The Chief Secretary briefed the CM in detail about disaster management preparedness and the work done so far. He informed that teams from the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, police, ITBP, and other concerned agencies are deployed in the affected areas and are continuously engaged in relief work.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare a robust action plan to deal with such disasters, with a focus on improving forecasting systems and communication networks. He emphasized that all departments must work in coordination to avoid any delay in relief operations.
He also directed that arrangements be made to ensure people being airlifted by helicopter from the affected area to Matli and Dehradun are taken to their homes safely.
The CM added that the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister are constantly monitoring the situation and have assured every possible assistance to tackle it. He gave priority instructions to restore road connectivity and to quickly reinstate basic facilities — electricity, water, and communication services — in the Dharali–Harshil area through a war-footing campaign.
