PM Modi Celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Schoolchildren and Brahma Kumaris at 7 LKM
New Delhi, Aug 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Saturday at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM), marking the festival that symbolises the sacred bond between brothers and sisters.

The occasion was marked by joyful interactions as schoolchildren and members of the Brahma Kumaris tied rakhis on the Prime Minister’s wrist and offered sweets. The celebrations reflected warmth and affection, with children greeting PM Modi with handshakes, smiles, hugs, conversations, and even a playful peck on the cheek. The Prime Minister reciprocated with equal affection, embracing the children and showering them with blessings.
Photographs shared by the Prime Minister’s Office showed a lively atmosphere, with a large group of children surrounding PM Modi as each took turns tying the rakhi.
This year’s celebration also featured the participation of the Brahma Kumaris – the world’s largest women-led spiritual organisation. Several members tied the sacred thread on the Prime Minister’s wrist, as he expressed his commitment to work tirelessly for their well-being and empowerment.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi extended greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Best wishes on the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan.”
Raksha Bandhan, observed on the full moon day of the Shravan month, is a cherished tradition in India, celebrating the enduring relationship between brothers and sisters. During the ritual, sisters tie a sacred thread on their brothers’ wrists while praying for their health, prosperity, and happiness. In return, brothers pledge to protect their sisters under all circumstances and often present gifts as a token of love.
The celebration at 7 LKM not only showcased the cultural significance of Raksha Bandhan but also reflected PM Modi’s personal connection with people from all walks of life – from schoolchildren to spiritual leaders – reinforcing the festival’s message of love, protection, and unity.
