Fertilizer sales soar in UP, Yogi govt ensures timely supply to farmers

Lucknow, Aug 2025 :Fertilizer sales in Uttar Pradesh have seen a sharp rise under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, reflecting the state’s strong push for agricultural support. As per Agriculture Department data, 39.40 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been sold so far this Kharif season (up to August 11, 2025), compared to 33.42 lakh metric tonnes during the same period last year — an increase of over 5.98 lakh metric tonnes. With ongoing efforts, sales are expected to climb further before the season ends.

Placing farmers at the heart of its priorities since 2017, the Yogi government has launched numerous initiatives for their welfare, ensuring timely and adequate fertilizer supply. Fertilizers are being provided across the state at the prescribed MRP, without any extra charges, countering opposition allegations of scarcity or overpricing.

Strict measures are in place to prevent black marketing, hoarding, and other malpractices, ensuring that anti-social elements cannot exploit farmers. The Agriculture Department, working in mission mode, continues to guarantee that every farmer has easy access to essential inputs, reinforcing the government’s commitment to their prosperity.

Information about fertilizers (2025 and 2024)

1- Urea: In Uttar Pradesh, urea demand has risen from 38 lakh metric tonnes in Kharif 2024 to 39.92 lakh metric tonnes this season. As of August 11, 2025, 28.98 lakh metric tonnes have already been sold.

👉 2024- (11th August)- 24.53 lakh metric tonnes

2- DAP: The demand for DAP in the state of Kharif season 2024 was 9.05 lakh metric tonnes. In 2025, it increased to 10 lakh metric tonnes. Till 11th August, 5.11 lakh metric tonnes of it has been sold.

3- NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium Mixture): NPK fertilizer sales in Uttar Pradesh have risen from 1.88 lakh metric tonnes in Kharif 2024 to 2.25 lakh metric tonnes as of August 11 this season, against a demand of six lakh metric tonnes.

4- MOP (Muriate of Potash) – MOP demand in UP has jumped from 0.47 lakh metric tonnes in Kharif 2024 to 1.25 lakh metric tonnes this season. Sales have nearly doubled, rising from 0.23 lakh metric tonnes last year to 0.43 lakh metric tonnes as of August 11.

5- SSP (Single Super Phosphate) – In the last Kharif season, the sale of SSP till August 11 was 1.76 lakh metric tons. Whereas in 2025, its sales have increased to 2.63 lakh metric tons till now.
