Chandigarh, Aug 2025 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday addressed the party’s “Women Wing Leadership Training Programme” and appealed to them to participate enthusiastically in social-political activities.

In the programme, along with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, party’s Women Wing’s state president and MLA from Moga Amandeep Kaur Arora, and Punjab Women Commission’s Chairperson Rajlali Gill were present. Whereas Arvind Kejriwal addressed the programme through video conferencing.

Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said that only Aam Aadmi Party gives women an opportunity to come into active politics. Other parties politically use women. They call women to rallies through their women wing leaders or there is their presence in some women-focused programmes. In active politics, they do not allow women from ordinary families to come.

He said that from the time the party’s government was formed, our government has been continuously working for the welfare of women and to empower them. From the anti-drug campaign being run by the AAP government also, the most relief has been received by women. He said that from intoxication the most suffering happens to women because intoxication snatches away from them their children and husband and destroys their home. Therefore, in the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign also, women should participate prominently and give their important contribution in completely eliminating intoxication from Punjab.

Kejriwal, appealing to women, said that if your children, father, or husband are addicted, then without any hesitation you immediately get them admitted in de-addiction centres. The AAP government has arranged all kinds of modern facilities in these centres. In these, air conditioning has also been arranged so that patients do not face any problem due to heat.

He also appealed to women to run awareness campaigns against intoxication in their respective localities. Kejriwal said that in my view the most virtuous work is to save people suffering from intoxication and to bring their family back on track again.

Kejriwal said that we work for the welfare of the poor, therefore till now we are alive in politics. Many conspiracies were made against us. I and my party’s leaders were sent to jail and an attempt was made to break the party, but we did not break because with us are the blessings of the poor and common people.

We built good schools for the children of the poor, for their treatment built Mohalla Clinics and good government hospitals, and made their electricity bills zero. Because of these schemes, the life of poor people has become much easier, otherwise in so much inflation it becomes difficult for people to manage. He said that because of these schemes today even BJP and Congress’s traditional voters are praising us.

Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted the opposition party. He said that other parties also make women wings but they remain limited to some minister only. Women of common households are only for raising slogans.

Whereas Aam Aadmi Party, after women come into the party, gives them training on how to participate in active politics. He said that the way without women no home can run properly, in the same way without their cooperation the country also cannot run properly.

He said that from free electricity and Mohalla Clinics also, the most benefit is happening to women. From this, the burden of inflation on them becomes less because on them only the direct effect of inflation falls. From ration to gas cylinder, everything is connected to them.

The Chief Minister, giving an example, said that once I met a milkman. He said you have done a lot for milkmen. For this, thank you! I asked how? He said – by waiving 300 units of electricity, women’s money has started getting saved. Earlier people used to settle my account after 3 months. Now every 10 days people give money because from their saved money from electricity and children’s school fees, they give me.

Similarly, I got a call from a person, he said that the War Against Drugs campaign is actually for women because the most troubled from intoxication were women only. Their children used to get ruined or the husband used to do violence after intoxication. Now this has reduced a lot.

The Chief Minister also gave an example of women’s economic progress through self-help groups. He said that in Sangrur, with the help of the government, 100 women formed a group and started their work, today their one month’s turnover has become one and a half crore rupees. Apart from this, we have also recruited thousands of women in Punjab Police. Today in every field women are moving ahead.

Just today, we have sent about 350 women sarpanches and panches from Fatehgarh Sahib to Maharashtra for training at government expense. From their stay to food and drink and travel fare also the government will bear. The Chief Minister said that we are working with commitment to empower women. In the coming days, the meaningful results of this will be seen.
