Coastal Road open 24 hours from tomorrow
Mumbai, Aug 2025 : A few years ago we had seen the dream of ‘Mumbai within 59 minutes’. This dream will now soon be fulfilled. The network of metro is rapidly expanding and at least 50 kilometers of metro routes are being completed every year. Also, the network of roads is being properly set up and two important link bridges, which will relieve Mumbaikars from traffic jams, have been inaugurated. This will save time in travel between Eastern and Western suburbs. Expressing happiness while inaugurating these projects for Mumbaikars on the eve of Independence Day, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said this.
At Bandra, at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority podium, the inauguration and dedication of various projects of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was done at the hands of Chief Minister Mr. Fadnavis. At that time Chief Minister Mr. Fadnavis was speaking. On this occasion Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee were present.
From tomorrow (15th August) the Coastal Road in Mumbai will be open 24 hours for citizens, saying this Chief Minister Mr. Fadnavis said that drivers should follow traffic rules on the Coastal Road, the entire Coastal Road is under CCTV monitoring. This route will prove revolutionary from the point of view of traffic. In it there is included a scenic walking track and cycle track for pedestrians, said Fadnavis.
Chief Minister Mr. Fadnavis said that to reduce the pressure of traffic on the Western Express Highway, parallel routes are being created. Tunnels, link bridges, and flyovers connecting various parts of Mumbai will prove useful for traffic facilitation. The aim is to complete the development projects currently ongoing in Mumbai by 2028-29. While developing Mumbai, we are insistent that it should be environment-friendly. Sustainable development cannot be done by ignoring the environment. Therefore, while implementing development projects, environment consideration is taken first. For the newly constructed projects, better and modern technology than foreign technologies is being used. Soon in suburban railways also, metro-like air-conditioned coaches with automatic doors will be available. The metro project is not only for improving traffic but is also an effective way of employment generation. If good housing and facilities are given to employees, their efficiency increases. Without compromising on development, we will further increase the speed of Mumbai’s progress, he also expressed confidence.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Shinde said that due to the projects going on in the city, positive changes are taking place in citizens’ lifestyles. The metro network has expanded to more than 450 km, due to which travel between Eastern and Western suburbs will be easier. Traffic jams will be reduced, fuel will be saved, and time will be saved. To improve the quality of public transport, metro and other projects are being implemented rapidly. Some projects have been completed ahead of the scheduled time, he also said.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Pawar said that the speed of Mumbai’s progress is essential for the country’s development. As Mumbai is the financial capital, development works are being done for its all-round development. The government is committed to public safety and quality infrastructure.
At this time, the Metro Training Institute worth 70 crore rupees built by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority at Mandale was inaugurated. Due to this training institute, skilled manpower for metro will be available and the cost for training will be saved. Also, manpower for metro projects of other states will be trained and revenue will be earned. Also, Chembur–Santacruz Link Cable-Stayed Bridge, Road Part 1, is the largest curved cable-stayed bridge in the Asian continent with a 100-meter radius. Also, the staff housing building worth 90 crore rupees at Malvani, which has two buildings with a total of 156 flats, has been inaugurated. The Arm D flyover at Kalanagar Junction and the 5.25 km long promenade, pedestrian underpass on Dharamveer, Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road have been inaugurated.
