The commissioning of the Neurology ICU and Stroke Unit at B.R. Singh Hospital marks a significant milestone in Indian Railways’ commitment to render advanced healthcare. This new facility is set to transform the hospital into a beacon of hope for patients suffering from critical neurological disorders. Designed to deliver evidence-based care, the unit aims to enhance patient outcomes and minimise the need for external referrals. The dedicated Stroke Unit will ensure swift, well-coordinated, and compassionate care, guiding patients from the crucial initial hours of a stroke toward recovery with clinical precision and empathy.

Functioning in synergy with the hospital’s Emergency and Triage area and Radiology Department, the unit will enable timely administration of reperfusion therapies and imaging, meticulous management of hemodynamic and metabolic parameters, and early, goal-directed rehabilitation during the critical therapeutic window. The facility is also equipped to provide advanced multimodal neuromonitoring, seizure management, and specialised neurocritical nursing. Serving as a sanctuary for the most complex and fragile cases, the Neurology ICU and Stroke Unit is equipped with advanced monitoring systems, life-saving interventions, and a dedicated medical team committed to preserving not only life but also the quality of life. The upcoming addition of an MRI facility and a Neuroelectrophysiology Laboratory will further support efforts to develop B.R. Singh Hospital into a Centre of Excellence in Neurology.

In addition to this groundbreaking development, Mr. Milind Deouskar also commissioned a host of upgraded facilities including one AC Basic Life Support Ambulance, a newly renovated gynaecology ward with cabins, an upgraded OPD pharmacy, and a new air-conditioned OPD patient waiting lounge, all dedicated to the service of railway beneficiaries.

Further enhancing the spirit of care and service, Mrs. Seema Deouskar, President/ERWWO/Kolkata, and Mrs. Nidhi Saxena, President/ERWWO/SDAH, presented a hot food trolley and a patient trolley for the welfare of admitted patients.
