No Shortage of Fertilizers in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Government Strict on Black Marketing

Yogi government shares fertilizer availability and sales data across all 18 divisions
42.64 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer sold between April 1 and August 18, 2025
4.37 lakh metric tonnes more urea sold this year compared to last year
CM directs officials to continuously monitor districts to ensure farmers face no problems

Lucknow, Aug 2025 :The Yogi government has once again clarified that there is no shortage of fertilizers anywhere in the state. Adequate supply has been ensured for farmers. The government has also appealed to farmers not to indulge in unnecessary hoarding of fertilizers.

The Agriculture Department released data showing fertilizer availability and sales across all 18 divisions of the state. During the Kharif season of 2024, by August 18, a total of 36.76 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer had been sold. This year, during the same period, sales have increased to 42.64 lakh metric tonnes.

Chief Minister’s Appeal to Farmers
CM Yogi Adityanath urged farmers not to stockpile fertilizers unnecessarily. “Take only as much as you need, when you need it,” he said. Complaint cells are active in every district, and farmers facing any difficulty can reach out. He also issued strict warnings against overpricing and black marketing of fertilizers, directing officials to conduct regular inspections, stay in touch with farmers, and resolve grievances.

More Distribution than Last Year
Compared to last year, fertilizer distribution has been significantly higher this year. In 2024, 27.25 lakh metric tonnes of urea were distributed; this year so far, 31.62 lakh metric tonnes have been provided. Similarly, DAP sales rose from 5.28 to 5.38 lakh metric tonnes, NPK from 2.07 to 2.39 lakh metric tonnes, MOP from 0.25 to 0.46 lakh metric tonnes, and SSP from 1.91 to 2.79 lakh metric tonnes.

  • Urea: 37.70 lakh MT available, 31.62 lakh MT purchased
  • DAP: 9.25 lakh MT available, 5.38 lakh MT purchased
  • NPK: 5.40 lakh MT available, 2.39 lakh MT purchased

Increase in Urea Sales
With Kharif sowing completed, urea consumption for paddy top-dressing is averaging 49,564 MT per day. Compared to last year, urea sales are up by 16.04% (4.37 lakh MT).
