Kolasib Bawrhsap in State Ramri at ILP Check Gate – Official Launch
Kolasib Aug 2025: Today, in Kolasib, a significant initiative led by Bawrhsap Mr. Robert C. Lalhmangaiha was launched, focusing on the Zophai and Phaisen areas, which lie along the boundary between Mizoram and Assam. The initiative aims to facilitate the issuance of Inner Line Permits (ILP) at the Bairabi and Phaisen Police Check Gates, connecting National Highway 154 from Bairabi to the Tuichhuahen Zero Point. It also addresses land ownership concerns related to the construction of a 2-lane road in Bairabi locality.
Currently, tensions exist between Assam and Mizoram regarding the border, which underscores the importance of proper documentation. As a result, it was emphasized that police stations at the Mizoram border will also ensure compliance with ILP regulations. Today, Mr. Robert C. Lalhmangaiha confirmed that the Inner Line Permit will be administered efficiently and effectively at the Bairabi and Phaisen Police Check Gates.
During the check gate operations, it was noted that individuals without sponsorship or adequate documentation may face challenges obtaining the Inner Line Permit (ILP). The Kolasib Bawrhsap mentioned that there will be strict adherence to the documentation requirements at the Check Gate, reinforcing the importance of compliance.
Mr. Lalhmangaiha also noted that the Bairabi Police Station, in collaboration with the Bairabi Landowners’ Association, is actively addressing local concerns. Additionally, efforts are underway to improve National Highway 154 and other related infrastructure for better connectivity. The discussion revealed that the construction of the 2-lane road in Bairabi will be accompanied by necessary compensation arrangements for affected landowners.
Furthermore, during today’s event, Kolasib District Commissioner and the authorities from the Land Revenue & Settlement Department, along with Kolasib Additional SP Mr. F. Lalthlamuana, participated to ensure coordination in the ILP Check Gate operations along National Highway 154.
