Delhi CM Attack Case: Police Detain Rajesh Khimji’s Friend in Rajkot

New Delhi, Aug 2025 – In connection with the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Police has detained another person for questioning. The individual, identified as a close friend of the prime accused Rajesh Khimji, was picked up from Rajkot, Gujarat.

According to officials, the youth in custody, an auto driver by profession, allegedly transferred money to Khimji. Police sources said his name emerged during the interrogation of the main accused. “The statements of Rajesh are being verified through his friends and relatives. This person is one of them and had transferred money to Rajesh,” the Delhi Police said in a statement, clarifying that no formal arrest has been made so far.

A team of Delhi Police is currently in Rajkot and may bring the detained youth to the capital later in the day. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to question Rajesh Khimji, who has been remanded to five days of police custody by a Delhi court. The probe is focusing on uncovering the motive behind the attack, as well as investigating whether Khimji had links with any organization or received outside assistance in planning the assault.

Despite the incident, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reaffirmed her commitment to public outreach. She announced that her ‘Jan Sunwai’ (public hearing) sessions will now be held across all assembly constituencies, not just at her residence. In a post on social media platform X, she wrote that every moment of her life and every part of her being is dedicated to Delhi, adding that she would not be deterred or driven away by such attacks.

The investigation is ongoing, with police working to piece together Khimji’s network and establish the intent behind the shocking assault.
