Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji must reflect on why the people of Delhi are angry with her: Saurabh Bhardwaj

New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that two days ago, a man attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta out of anger over the government’s directions regarding stray dogs. Similarly, today, CM Rekha Gupta arrived in Gandhinagar Market with a convoy of dozens of vehicles, where local residents also protested against her.

Giving another example, Bhardwaj said that just two days ago, BJP minister Ashish Sood held a meeting with parents of private school students in his Janakpuri constituency. In that meeting too, parents strongly opposed him. Annoyed, Ashish Sood shouted at the parents, saying: “This is my meeting, I made all the arrangements, including the food. I will speak here, not you.”

Bhardwaj further added that yesterday, at Acharya Shree Bhikshu Hospital in Moti Nagar, BJP MLA Harish Khurana misbehaved and scuffled with junior doctors and interns. In this regard, 42 doctors submitted written complaints, but under pressure from the BJP’s Delhi government, the hospital administration did not allow an FIR to be registered.

He alleged that in Delhi today, the situation has become such that the video footage of the attack on CM Rekha Gupta has been suppressed by the government. With the help of Delhi Police, mobile phones of people present at the spot were confiscated and searched. Wherever any video was found, it was deleted. Similarly, at Ashish Sood’s event, people were prevented from recording videos. Currently, BJP ministers are facing protests and even attacks at several places, and in order to save face, the government is forced to hide CCTV footage and videos.

Bhardwaj said that ever since the BJP government came to power in Delhi, it has only troubled the people. The moment it assumed office, BJP minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that petrol would not be given to vehicles older than ten years. The government’s first action was to demolish homes of slum dwellers, rendering the poor homeless. Small-scale businesses that sustained families were bulldozed. Ten thousand bus marshals were dismissed from service. Workers in Mohalla Clinics lost their jobs as one clinic after another was shut down. BJP MLAs even entered hospitals and beat up doctors.

He said that the people of Delhi are extremely unhappy with the BJP government, which is why protests against BJP leaders are happening across the city. Offering a suggestion through the media, Bhardwaj said: “We have always maintained that no matter how angry you are with someone, violence is never acceptable. But Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji must reflect on why the people of Delhi are so angry with her.”
