1,150-Bed Hospital to be Established at Ambajogai
Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College Must Ensure Quality Work – Deputy CM Ajit Pawar
Mumbai, Aug 2025 : To strengthen medical education and healthcare services in rural Marathwada, a well-equipped government hospital with a capacity of 1,150 beds will be set up at Ambajogai in Beed district. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed that the work of Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College should also be carried out with high quality standards.
A review meeting regarding the college’s development was held today at Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Pawar. Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance O. P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of Planning Rajgopal Deora, Secretary of Medical Education Dheeraj Kumar, Finance Secretary Shaila A., Director Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Dean Dr. Shankar Dhapate, Deputy CM’s Secretary Rajesh Deshmukh, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Deputy CM Pawar emphasized that Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College, known as the country’s first rural medical college, should be transformed into a model government institution. He assured that there would be no shortage of funds for the college. A new master plan must be prepared, incorporating ongoing and completed projects. The upcoming hospital should include modern infrastructure, super-specialty services, and world-class facilities.
Highlighting the importance of this institution for Marathwada, Pawar said that the college caters to a large number of patients, and therefore, a proposal for establishing a super-specialty hospital should be submitted. He instructed that the work must be completed at the earliest, while the existing buildings should be used in a planned manner.
Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif added that steps should be taken swiftly to enhance the standards of the government medical college at Ambajogai. A detailed project plan should be prepared and implemented without delay.
This new facility will be a major relief for the population of the Marathwada region. The government medical college will not only create new opportunities for local students to pursue medical education but also provide rural patients access to expert healthcare services.
