District Level Security Meeting Held in Kolasib
Kolasib, Aug 2025 – District Level Security Meeting was held at the DC Office Conference Hall, Kolasib. The meeting was chaired by District Deputy Commissioner Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha.
During the meeting, DC Lalhmangaiha explained that Kolasib District, being a border district of Mizoram with Assam and close to the State entry point, faces several legal and regulatory challenges. He noted that due to the Assam Government’s recent eviction drives against encroachers, there is a risk of such displaced persons attempting to enter Mizoram. This, he said, has created significant legal and administrative challenges.
Highlighting this concern, the DC stressed that Inner Line Permit (ILP) Check Posts within Kolasib District are being strengthened, and government officials frequently visit and monitor these posts. He appreciated the efforts of village leaders and residents in guarding against illegal entry into Mizoram and urged continued cooperation with government initiatives.
The meeting reviewed the current situation of Police Duty Posts and ILP Check Posts across the district. Discussions covered ways to improve coordination and communication, address the shortage of manpower at certain posts, and strengthen discipline among personnel. Proposals were also made regarding proper management of ILP and Police Check Posts along the National Highway 4-Lane that connects Mizoram.
Special attention was given to ILP enforcement at the Rail Station under Kolasib District and the need for adequate police deployment there. Suggestions were also made to increase the number of Police Stations and Check Posts to further enhance security in the district.
The meeting was attended by Government officials, Joint Village Councils of Kolasib District, Village Council Presidents from border villages, leaders of the Joint Young Mizo Association (YMA), and leaders of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP).
