Joint Committee to be Formed to Suggest Measures on Industrial Power Tariffs
Minister of State for Energy Meghna Bordikar directs panel to propose solutions within two months
Mumbai, Aug 2025 : A joint committee will be set up to suggest measures regarding industrial power tariffs, as demanded by the Nashik-based NIMA (Nashik Industrial Manufacturers Association). The committee will include representatives of entrepreneurs and officials from MahaVitaran. Minister of State for Energy, Smt. Meghna Bordikar, directed that this study group should submit its recommendations within two months.
A meeting was recently held at the MSEB Holding Company office in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Minister Bordikar with the industrial association. MLA Satyajit Tambe, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Director Yogesh Gadkari, Director (Projects) Sachin Talewar, Director Satish Chavan, Chief Engineers Mr. Latpate, Mr. Padalkar, Mr. Bhole, Sunil Suryawanshi, NIMA representatives Ashish Nahar and Manish Rawal, along with entrepreneurs, and officials from MSEB Holding Company, MahaVitaran, MahaParikshan, and MahaNirmiti attended the meeting.
Minister Bordikar stated that, for the first time, electricity tariffs are being reduced in Maharashtra. However, in order to explore what additional benefits can be provided at the government level for industrial consumers, a study group will be formed comprising representatives of NIMA and officials of MahaVitaran and MahaParikshan. Through this group, solutions will be suggested in line with demands related to power supply and tariff issues. These measures will help resolve industry-related tariff problems, and further discussions will also be held with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, she added.
MLA Tambe emphasized that the study group of entrepreneurs and officials should propose solutions at the earliest. Director Gadkari presented detailed information about the tariffs charged by MahaVitaran, including those for industries, agriculture, solar power generation, and domestic use, along with the process of tariff determination. NIMA also gave a presentation regarding their demands.
