District-Level Red Ribbon Quiz Competition Organized in Siaha

Siaha, Aug 2025: The District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC), Siaha, today organized the District Level Red Ribbon Quiz Competition at the MADC Golden Jubilee Hall, Council Vaih, Siaha. The program was graced and supported by Senior Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lalnunziri.

In her address, Dr. Lalnunziri expressed gratitude to all the participating students and highlighted that such competitions enhance knowledge and awareness which should be spread across families, churches, and communities. She also encouraged the students to remain role models in society and to stay prepared for a promising future.

Dr. Lalnunziri further reminded the students of the slogan “While you still have hope, save your child”, stressing that today’s youth are precious and must be protected from risks such as HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and unsafe lifestyles. She said that though challenges remain, awareness and cautious living can safeguard their future.

She proudly recalled that in the past, students from Siaha district had represented Mizoram in the State Level Quiz competition and secured the first position, which brought pride to the district. She urged both students and teachers to continue striving for excellence not only in Mizoram but also at regional and national levels.

At today’s competition, five schools participated. The results were as follows:

  1. Government Higher Secondary School, SiahaFirst Prize (₹7,000 cash award + citation + medals)
  2. Grace Academy SchoolSecond Prize (₹5,000 cash award + citation + medals)
  3. ECM Higher Secondary SchoolThird Prize (₹4,000 cash award + citation + medals)

Additionally, Maraland Academy and Springfield English School received Consolation Prizes. All participating schools were also given certificates of participation.

After the competition, Mrs. Zingia Hlychho, Counselor at ICTC, District Hospital, Siaha, delivered an awareness talk on HIV/AIDS. She emphasized healthy living, avoidance of risky behaviors, and the importance of respecting women while promoting self-discipline and purity among youth.

The program concluded with words of appreciation from Dr. Lalrengpuii Ralte, District AIDS Control Officer (DACO), who thanked all participants and organizers for making the event a success.
