Tamil Nadu Secures Over ₹3,200 Crore German Investments, 6,000 Jobs in Pipeline
Munich, Sept 2025 : The Tamil Nadu government has signed major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading German companies during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s ongoing two-nation visit, securing investments worth more than ₹3,200 crore and paving the way for the creation of nearly 6,000 jobs in the state.
According to an official release, Munich-based Knorr-Bremse, a global leader in braking systems, will invest ₹2,000 crore to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The new plant will focus on railway doors and braking systems, marking the company’s first major manufacturing investment in the state. The project is expected to create around 3,500 jobs and significantly boost Tamil Nadu’s railway components and advanced engineering ecosystem.
Another major investment comes from the Germany-based Nordex Group, one of the world’s top wind turbine manufacturers. The company will expand its operations in Tamil Nadu with an infusion of ₹1,000 crore, generating 2,500 new jobs. This expansion further consolidates Tamil Nadu’s leadership in renewable energy manufacturing and strengthens its commitment to green industrialisation.
Additionally, EBM-Papst, a global leader in energy-efficient electric motors and air circulation technologies, has announced the expansion of both its Global Competence Centre (GCC) and manufacturing hub in Tamil Nadu. With a planned investment of ₹201 crore over the next five years, the initiative will create 250 specialised jobs in the HVAC, automotive, and industrial applications sectors.
During his visit to Germany, Chief Minister Stalin also met senior executives of the BMW Group. The discussions centred on Tamil Nadu’s strong position in the automotive and electric vehicle (EV) sectors. Stalin invited BMW to expand its footprint in the state, while BMW leaders reaffirmed their long-term commitment to Tamil Nadu, citing its robust EV infrastructure and the company’s existing presence in India.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Germany and the United Kingdom, which began on Saturday, is focused on strengthening Tamil Nadu’s global investment ties, enhancing industrial collaborations, and creating new employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
