Punjab Becomes the State Giving Highest Compensation to Farmers in India

Chandigarh, Sept 2025 : The floods in Punjab washed away the hard work and dreams of farmers, but the Aam Aadmi Party government did not abandon them. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann immediately took a major decision, announcing that every affected farmer would receive compensation of ₹20,000 per acre. This is not only the highest in Punjab but also the biggest compensation package announced anywhere in the country so far.

The Mann government took this step not just on paper but by genuinely understanding the pain of farmers. While farmers in Haryana receive a maximum of ₹15,000 per acre, in Gujarat around ₹8,900 per acre, in Madhya Pradesh about ₹12,950 per acre, and in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan mostly between ₹5,000–₹7,000 per acre, Punjab’s decision to grant ₹20,000 per acre is seen as a salute to the strength and toil of its farmers.

Not only this, but the Mann government has also announced ₹4 lakh compensation for families who lost loved ones in the floods. Additionally, farmers have been allowed to sell the sand deposited in their fields, giving them immediate cash relief and easing the path for the next sowing season. These measures show that the government truly understands the farmers’ hardships and is determined to provide them with every possible support.

At a time when Punjab’s farmers are struggling amidst devastated fields and broken homes, this decision has brought them a new ray of hope. The Mann government has made it clear that if the farmer sinks, the entire economy will sink. Therefore, rescuing farmers is the government’s first priority. By keeping compensation at the highest level nationwide, Punjab has set an example for the rest of the country.

This compensation is not merely financial aid; it is also an assurance to farmers that the government shares in their suffering. In this hour of crisis, the resounding message across Punjab is that this government will never leave its farmers alone.

By setting the relief amount at the highest level, the Mann government has proven that farmers are not just voters but the true strength of Punjab. This decision offers farmers both immediate support in their struggle and confidence for the future. The victory of farmers is the victory of Punjab, and the Mann government has affirmed that it will stand with them under all circumstances.
