Training on PoSH Act, 2013 & Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 Held at Mamit
Mamit, Sept 2025: The Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the Women & Child Development Department, Mamit, conducted a training programme for various departments in Mamit town on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH Act) and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
The programme was graced by Pu K. Laltlawmlova, Deputy Commissioner, and the sessions were led by Pu H. Lalduhsanga, CJM & Secretary, DLSA, who served as the Resource Person.
Under the PoSH Act, 2013, every Government and Private sector organization employing 10 or more persons is required to establish an Internal Committee (IC) to ensure a safe and harassment-free workplace for women. As per Supreme Court orders, members of such committees can be fined up to ₹50,000 for violations. In cases where an organization is unable to constitute an IC, the Deputy Commissioner may constitute a Local Committee (LC) to handle complaints.
At present, 36 offices and institutions in Mamit town have already been onboarded under the PoSH Act through the online She-Box portal.
