District Farmers Benefiting from Modern Technology – 2,200 Acres Sprayed Under Namo Drone Didi Scheme

Raipur, Sept 2025 : Farmers in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district are increasingly adopting modern technology in agriculture. As part of this effort, the Namo Drone Didi Scheme has provided access to drone technology, under which liquid fertilizers and pesticides have been sprayed on nearly 2,200 acres during the Kharif 2025 season.

At present, a total of six drones are operational across all development blocks of the district. Trained drone pilots are effectively spraying nano urea, nano DAP, pesticides, and other liquid agricultural products on paddy crops. Using drone technology, one acre can be covered in just 7 to 10 minutes with only 10 liters of water, saving both time and water while ensuring better absorption of products by the plants. As a result, farmers are showing growing interest in drone-based farming.

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Mr. Deepak Nayak, stated that nano urea and nano DAP supplied by the central government are proving more effective than conventional fertilizers. Manufactured using nanotechnology, these products act faster on crops and are easier to transport and store. A single bottle of nano urea or nano DAP can replace a full bag of conventional urea or DAP, offering significant benefits to farmers.

Currently, spraying nano urea on paddy crops is proving highly beneficial. Mr. Nayak further explained that the use of nano fertilizers not only enhances crop productivity but also reduces the financial burden on the government from heavy subsidies on chemical fertilizers. Additionally, nano fertilizers are proving to be beneficial for maintaining soil health.
