MLA Smt. Gomti Sai Flags Off Awareness Van for Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme

The van will tour towns and villages of Pathalgaon Assembly constituency to spread awareness about the scheme

Raipur, Sept 2025 : MLA and Vice Chairperson of the Sarguja Tribal Development Authority, Smt. Gomti Sai, flagged off the awareness van for the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme from her residence in Mundadih village. The van will travel across towns and villages within the Pathalgaon Assembly constituency to inform people about the scheme and its benefits.

The event was attended by several public representatives, local residents, and officials and employees of the electricity department. On the occasion, MLA Smt. Sai said that this initiative is a historic step toward realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

About the Scheme
Under this scheme, rooftop solar panels with a capacity of 1 to 3 kilowatts can be installed, generating 100 to 360 units of electricity per month. Subsidies are being provided by both the central and state governments:

• For a 1 kW solar plant – ₹30,000 subsidy from the central government and ₹15,000 from the state government.
• For a 2 kW solar plant – ₹60,000 subsidy from the central government and ₹30,000 from the state government.
• For a 3 kW solar plant – ₹78,000 subsidy from the central government and ₹30,000 from the state government.

Additionally, consumers who install solar plants can avail bank loans at a 6% interest rate, repayable in easy installments over 10 years.
