Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma Announces Special Reservations for Agniveers
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has unveiled a significant policy to support Agniveers, providing them with reservations in the police force, as well as for prison and forest guards upon completing their Indian Army service. This announcement, made on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, reflects a broader commitment to honor and integrate military service members into civilian roles.
Sharma praised the valor of Kargil War heroes and emphasized the government’s dedication to supporting Agniveers through this new reservation policy. “On this solemn anniversary, we pay tribute to those who sacrificed for our nation and extend our support to Agniveers through opportunities in various security roles,” Sharma said.
Following Rajasthan’s lead, other states are also implementing measures to aid Agniveers. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced plans to recruit Agniveers into the state police, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to modernize the defense sector. Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have introduced similar reservations and benefits, with Odisha offering a 10% quota and age relaxation, and Madhya Pradesh extending recruitment opportunities in police and armed forces.
On a national scale, ex-Agniveers will benefit from a 10% reservation, age relaxation, and exemption from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in key forces including the BSF, CISF, RPF, SSB, and CRPF. Director General of CRPF, Anish Dayal Singh, confirmed the readiness to integrate ex-Agniveers. Prime Minister Modi, speaking during the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, underscored the Agnipath scheme’s aim to rejuvenate the Army and implement crucial defense reforms.
