ASAP’s big decision: This year only in colleges and next year will throw strength in DUSU elections

Delhi, Sept 2025 : Aam Aadmi Party’s student unit ASAP has this time announced not to contest Delhi University Students’ Union election. This decision is part of a well-thought strategy. ASAP believes that the purpose of student politics is not only to contest elections or to win, but to raise students’ real problems on the right platform and solve them.

ASAP has made clear that this year’s focus is organization building and achieving strength at college level. In DUSU election, even though this time candidates will not be fielded, but next year with full vigor and strength a strategic decision has been taken to enter in student union election. This step makes clear that ASAP keeps thinking of long politics and is preparing firmly for student interests.

ASAP has by making students win unopposed in two colleges this year proved that students trust them. These victories are not only election results, but proof of students’ hopes and support. In raising students’ real problems on the platform ASAP has always been ahead. Whether it is demand of free travel for students in metro, shortage of hostels and library, or burden of fees – ASAP continuously has been giving voice to these issues. This is the reason that among students ASAP’s identity has been built as an honest, struggling and student-friendly organization.

This time’s decision makes clear that ASAP does not do politics only to contest elections, but moves forward keeping students’ issues at center. By strengthening organization at college level ASAP in coming time is preparing to become the biggest voice of Delhi University students.

ASAP’s strength can be guessed from this only that in Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPE) student union election ASAP’s candidates Palak Gupta and Anuriti Yadav were elected unopposed. This victory is not only election result, but deep trust and support of students, which is biggest strength for ASAP.

Future direction is clear, ASAP is going to run even wider campaign at college level. Organization’s goal is that to every student of Delhi University its voice should reach and their problems get concrete solution. This year’s decision of organization building and next year entering in DUSU election proves ASAP as even more mature, strategic and true representative of students.
