Administrative Buildings Must Now Be Constructed as per Standard Design – Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Uniform Standard Plan for Administrative Buildings of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats
Mumbai, Sept 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today announced that the administrative buildings of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in the state will now mandatorily be constructed according to the standard design (type plan) prepared by the government.
Taking into account the number of elected representatives, officers, employees, and the population of the towns, a standard plan for the construction of new administrative buildings has been approved by the Chief Architect of the Public Works Department. Accordingly, all Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in the state are required to construct their new administrative buildings as per this approved type plan.
He further informed that in places where prior approval was granted for constructing administrative buildings but work has not yet commenced, the construction will now also have to follow the new standard design. Priority funding will be provided for towns where no administrative building for the Municipal Council or Nagar Panchayat exists.
Highlighting the reasons for this decision, Deputy CM Shinde stated that due to the growing population, rapid urbanization, and advances in technology, the responsibilities of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats have increased significantly. To ensure that citizens receive all facilities, grievances are resolved promptly, and that updated e-governance systems are uniformly adopted across the state, the standard plan has been designed to incorporate all essential facilities in these administrative buildings.
