Mamit District Level Committee on Disabilities and Senior Citizens Meeting
Mamit, Sept 2025: Today, a meeting of the District Level Committee on Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and Senior Citizens was held at the DC Conference Hall, Mamit, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pu K. Laltlawmlova. The meeting deliberated on assistance to be provided through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).
During the meeting, it was informed that applications are being invited from persons with disabilities and senior citizens in Mamit District who require aids and assistive devices. Applicants must produce a medical certificate issued by the Medical Department to confirm their eligibility. Certificates can be issued by the District Medical Superintendent at Mamit or obtained from Aizawl if required. Applications should be submitted through the concerned Block Development Officers (BDOs) to facilitate verification.
For persons with disabilities, the following items are available:
- Wheelchair (Big/Small)
- Cerebral Palsy Chair
- Elbow Crutch (Large)
- Walking Stick
- Braille Kit (for 100% blindness only)
- Sugamya Cane (for 100% blindness only)
- Smartphone with screen reader (for 100% blindness only)
- ADL Kit
- Rollator (Small/Big)
- BTE Digital Hearing Aid Cat-III with battery
Applicants must hold a medical certificate showing at least 40% disability, an Aadhaar card, and a ration card with proof of household income not exceeding ₹22,500 per month.
For senior citizens aged 60 years and above, the following items are available:
- Wheelchair (Big)
- Wheelchair Commode
- Chair/Stool with Commode
- Walking Stick/Adjustable Walking Stick
- Walker (Foldable)
- Knee Brace
- Spinal Support
- LS Belt
- BTE Digital Hearing Aid Cat-III with battery
Applicants in this category must produce their Aadhaar card and a ration card with household income not exceeding ₹15,000 per month.
The last date for submitting applications is October 17, 2025. For the convenience of applicants, assistance will also be provided at the MUP District Headquarters for document verification and submission.
