Eknath Shinde Directs Urgent Focus on Basic Amenities in 14 Villages Merged into Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed that immediate priority be given to essential works such as water supply, roads, healthcare facilities, and schools in the 14 villages merged into the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He also instructed that the process of transferring official records of these areas be expedited.
A review meeting on the demands of the newly merged villages was held at Sahyadri Guest House, where Shinde gave these instructions. Present at the meeting were MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, MLA Rajesh More, Additional Chief Secretary to the Deputy CM Asim Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department Govindraja, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Kailas Shinde, and Thane District Collector Shrikanth Panchal.
To provide urgent healthcare, Shinde directed that temporary clinics be set up using porta cabins. He also instructed officials to operationalize a new hospital in the old building at Navali. Beautification of the Waklan lake and cleanliness of the villages through NMMC staff were also emphasized. Encroachments on government land must be removed promptly, and official records of these villages should be transferred without delay.
Commissioner Kailas Shinde informed that a planning blueprint is being prepared with surveys through drones covering roads, infrastructure, and land use. In the NMMC budget for 2025–26, a provision of ₹19.70 crore has been made for these 14 villages, prioritizing schools, health centers, water supply, sewage, pathways, and roads.
