State Government Alert and Actively Ensuring Treatment for Mount Everest Conqueror Amita Shrivas: CM Vishnu Deo Sai
Raipur, May 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said that the state government is closely monitoring the health condition of mountaineer Amita Shrivas, who successfully summited Mount Everest (8,848 metres) on May 22, 2026, bringing pride to the state at both national and international levels.
Amita Shrivas, a talented climber from the Janjgir-Champa district, made history by scaling the world’s highest peak and has been hailed by the Chief Minister as an inspiration for the youth of Chhattisgarh. CM Sai said that her courage, determination, and hard work have created a new chapter of motivation for young people in the state.
He added that it is a matter of immense pride for Chhattisgarh that a daughter of the state hoisted the national flag and elevated the state’s honour at the highest point on Earth.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister informed that Amita’s health deteriorated while she was returning from the summit to the base camp due to extreme altitude conditions, severe cold temperatures reaching nearly minus 40 degrees Celsius, and oxygen shortage.
She was immediately evacuated by helicopter and admitted to Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu, where she is currently undergoing treatment. According to doctors, she is suffering from severe frostbite and altitude-related health complications.
CM Sai said that as soon as the information was received, senior officials of the state government were instructed to coordinate and ensure all possible assistance. He added that the government is maintaining continuous contact and support for Amita Shrivas and her family, ensuring she receives the best possible medical care.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Chhattisgarh government stands firmly with Amita and her family during this difficult time.
Wishing her a speedy recovery, CM Sai said, “We pray that our daughter Amita recovers quickly and returns home in good health. Her courage, patience, and determination will continue to inspire thousands of young people. Chhattisgarh is proud of her achievement.”
