Mahatari Sadan Scheme: A Model of Women-Centric Development for Chhattisgarh – CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today inaugurated 51 Mahatari Sadans from Kareli Badi village in Magarlod block of Dhamtari district. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Mahatari Sadan Yojana, launched during the auspicious festival of Navratri, is an important initiative for the progress of mothers and sisters across the state.

The Chief Minister recalled that the government had earlier announced the construction of Mahatari Sadans in villages so that women could have a large, well-equipped space to gather, work together, and pursue their activities. “Today, that big promise has been fulfilled,” he said.

On this occasion, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Revenue Minister Shri Tankaram Verma, Lok Sabha MP Smt. Roop Kumari Chaudhary, former minister and Kurud MLA Shri Ajay Chandrakar, Secretary Smt. Niharika Barik, district-level officials, and a large number of villagers and dignitaries were present. The Chief Minister also handed over the certificate of transfer of Mahatari Sadan to the women’s group members of Aastha Mahila Sankul Organization, Kareli Badi, and planted a Moulshri sapling in the premises.

The Chief Minister described the Mahatari Sadan Yojana as a crucial step towards making Chhattisgarh a model of women-centric development. He said, “Mahatari Sadan will not only serve as a foundation for the progress of women but also for the overall development of the state. It will be a new center of strength, dignity, and self-reliance for mothers and sisters.”

He emphasized that these centers would open doors to education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. Women’s self-help groups would be linked to Mahatari Sadans to promote economic activities. Various programs such as tailoring, embroidery, weaving, handicrafts, agriculture-based training, and digital literacy would be conducted here to empower women and enhance their livelihoods.
