Foundation Stone Laid for 100-Bed Health Unit Hospital by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

State-of-the-Art Hospital to be Developed at Waghalwadi through Special Efforts of Deputy CM

Baramati, Sept 2025 : The foundation stone for a 100-bed health unit hospital under the Pune-based Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College, as well as the Waghalwadi-Someshwar Primary Health Center, was laid at Waghalwadi by the State Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of the district, Ajit Pawar.

On this occasion, District Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil, District Health Officer Dr. Ramchandra Hankare, Sub-Divisional Officer Vaibhav Navadkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Sudarshan Rathod, Executive Engineer Amarjit Ramshe, Amol Pawar, Tehsildar Ganesh Shinde, Group Development Officer Kishor Mane, and other officials were present.

Regarding the development work in the health unit hospital and primary health center, Mr. Pawar instructed officials to prepare an updated plan incorporating suggestions related to roads, water tanks, mortuary, vehicle parking, residential facilities, etc.

He also emphasized that while carrying out development work, maximum tree plantation should be undertaken, and attention should be given to ensure that the development work is of high quality, durable, and completed on time.

Hospital Facilities:

The new 100-bed health unit hospital at Waghalwadi will be constructed on a 10-acre site with administrative approval of ₹64.48 crore. The hospital and its campus will include 10 outpatient departments (OPDs), 5 well-equipped operation theaters, general wards for men and women, intensive care unit (ICU/NICU), X-ray facilities, obstetrics and pediatric departments, dining facility, pharmacy, internal roads, garden, landscaping, vehicle parking, and residential facilities for 80 students.

Primary Health Center:

The Waghalwadi-Someshwarnagar Primary Health Center has received administrative approval of ₹4.37 crore. The center will include 3 six-bed wards for men and women, medical officer rooms, laboratory, dressing room, women’s ward, operation theater, medicine storage room, sanitation facilities, records room, solar facilities, fire-fighting equipment, furniture, protective walls, vehicle parking, and land leveling works. A total of 13 positions will be created under this center.

Deputy CM Emphasizes Provision of Health Facilities:

Through the efforts of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, various healthcare infrastructure facilities are being provided for residents of the Baramati region. Waghalwadi, located over 40 km from Baramati city, will benefit from the hospital as it will provide immediate medical services to residents of the southern and western parts of the taluka and surrounding areas. It will also serve as a valuable educational resource for medical students.

The health center will benefit workers of Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory, breastfeeding mothers, young children through vaccination programs, students, and senior citizens by providing high-quality healthcare services.

On this occasion, the event was attended by Dr. Chandrakant Mhaske, Principal of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College; Director Sambhaji Holkar of Pune District Central Bank; Purushottam Jagtap, Director of Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory; and various dignitaries from the local area.
