AAP Launches Major Campaign Against ‘Goonda Raj’ in Goa

Goa, Sept 2025 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made an open declaration in Goa’s politics: freeing the state from fear, lawlessness, and “goonda raj” is now its next mission. Through its new state-wide campaign, “Goa Does Not Want BJP’s Goonda Raj,” the party has directly challenged the ruling BJP government. AAP says this is not just a political movement but the collective voice of every Goan who wants peace, security, and justice in their state.

Once considered a symbol of peace, brotherhood, and harmony, Goa has seen a rapid deterioration in law and order under BJP rule. Crime has risen sharply, and fear has gripped ordinary citizens. Official Goa Police statistics reveal that in the past six years, serious crimes have increased by more than 38%. In 2017, around 2,900 cases were registered, while by 2024 the figure had crossed 4,050. Crimes against women have surged by over 40%. In just the past year alone, more than 120 cases of murder or attempted murder, 350 assaults on women, and 800 cases of theft and robbery were reported.

According to AAP, these figures reflect not just numbers but the lived reality of fear and insecurity under BJP rule. The broad-daylight attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar and over 250 assaults on activists in the past two years underscore how law has given way to the dominance of BJP leaders and their hired goons.

AAP also alleges that BJP’s politics rests not only on fear but also on selling Goa’s land and identity. Official records show that over 3,200 acres of government and community land have been handed over to private companies and builders in recent years—many of these deals struck without the consent of local residents. The party accuses the BJP of selling Goa under the guise of development and intimidating anyone who dares to resist this plunder.

The failures, AAP says, go far beyond law and order. From roads to schools, basic infrastructure lies in disrepair. Around 72% of state roads need urgent repairs, with many areas turning into lakes during the monsoon. Earlier, AAP had already launched campaigns highlighting the state of roads, receiving overwhelming public support. Over 50,000 people have so far signed petitions against the government’s negligence.

AAP maintains that the people of Goa have now resolved that fear will not rule—democracy will. This election, it insists, is not just about political parties but about Goa’s future. On one side stands the BJP, seeking to hold onto power through fear, land grabs, and goonda raj. On the other side stands AAP, promising to restore peace, rule of law, transparency, and people’s power, and to return Goa to its reputation as a peaceful, safe, and proud state.

Goans, the party asserts, are no longer willing to remain silent. They want future generations to inherit rights and security, not fear. The message is clear: “Goonda Raj will not continue, People’s Raj will.” AAP says this movement has now grown beyond politics to become the heartfelt demand of every Goan—one that will break BJP’s politics of fear and chart a new direction for the state.
