Yoga Balances Body, Mind, and Soul and Gives Us Positive Energy: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, Oct 2025 : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today said that yoga is not just an exercise or activity but a complete art of living. She emphasised that yoga helps balance the body, mind, and soul, making individuals more disciplined, calm, and filled with positive energy.

She was speaking at the 59th Foundation Day and Yoga Day celebrations of the Indian Yoga Institute, organised at Chhatrasal Stadium. The Chief Minister highlighted that over the last 11 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has gained worldwide recognition and respect.

The event was attended by Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, senior officials from the Education Department, and several distinguished guests. The Indian Yoga Institute, she noted, has been spreading the message of Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah (May all be happy) and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The whole world is one family) for 59 years through more than 4,500 free yoga centres across India and abroad.

Speaking about yoga’s wider benefits, the Chief Minister said it not only keeps us physically healthy but also builds mental strength and emotional stability. “Yoga teaches us self-awareness, focus, and balance, which prepare us to face life’s challenges with determination and calmness,” she said.

The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his vision in taking yoga to the global stage. She recalled that it was on his proposal in 2014 that the United Nations declared 21 June as International Yoga Day a historic step that transformed India’s ancient tradition into a modern global practice.“In these past 11 years, yoga has become a symbol of health, balance, and peace of mind across the world. It has touched millions of lives and grown into a global movement inspired by the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” she added.

Extending her wishes to the Indian Yoga Institute and its practitioners, the Chief Minister said India’s journey to becoming a Vishwaguru (world leader) can only be realised if every citizen is healthy. “Yoga is the practice that moves us from ‘Me to We,’” she remarked. Linking the celebration with Vijayadashami, Gandhi Jayanti, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti, she said the day inspires us to walk the path of truth, sacrifice, and service.
