Waiver of No-Movement Certificate Fee for Eligible MHADA Applicants – Minister Atul Save

Housing Minister Atul Save announced today that 158 eligible applicants, who were allotted plots in old cessable buildings through a computerized lottery under the Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board of MHADA, have been awarded “dekar patra” (letters of acceptance). This decision waives the no-movement certificate fee for these applicants.

At the program held at MHADA headquarters in Bandra (East), Minister Save highlighted that on December 28, 2023, a computerized lottery was conducted to allot flats to 265 eligible tenants and occupants of old cessable buildings. This initiative, aimed at increasing transparency and efficiency, was supported by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Out of the 265 applicants, 212 have been re-verified by MHADA, and 158 have received their acceptance letters. The remaining 53 are still being verified, and Minister Save urged the final 54 applicants to submit their acceptance letters.

Minister Save emphasized that this historic change has made the flat distribution process more transparent and efficient, reducing complaints from tenants and residents. Over the past year, MHADA has provided around 20,000 flats to the public through computerized lotteries in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Konkan Mandal. A computerized lottery for 2,000 flats in Mumbai will be conducted soon, as part of the government’s intention to provide housing for all through schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and the Dhangar Gharkul Yojana.

Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of MHADA, explained that the rules for allotting flats from the master list to eligible tenants and occupants of old cessable buildings have been established. A circular issued on December 22, 2023, outlines these rules and cancels previous resolutions, circulars, and orders. Jaiswal stressed the importance of applicants taking possession of their flats within 45 days of receiving the dekar letter, or the allotment will be canceled without notice, and their right to the master list will be terminated.

The event was attended by key officials, including Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board Chief Officer Milind Sunderkar, Mumbai Board Chief Officer Milind Borikar, Mumbai Board Deputy Chief Officer Anil Wankhede, Co-Chief Officer Umesh Wagh, Co-Chief Officer Vandana Suryavanshi, Deputy Secretary of the Housing Department Ajit Kawade, and Deputy Chief Officer Laxman Munde.
