Prepare Work Plans Keeping the Year 2047 in Mind for Planned Development of Urban Areas: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in Vision-2047, has emphasised to pay special attention to planned development of cities according to population. In line with his intention, development of urban areas in state should also be carried out in a planned manner. For this, districts should prepare work plans keeping the year 2047 in mind and implement them in coordination. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the Collectors-Commissioners Conference at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister said that in urban areas of the state, notable work has been done in cleanliness, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi scheme for street vendors and clean air index, for which national-level awards have been received. He expressed concern over delays in allocation of EWS (Economically Weaker Section) housing prepared by builders during colony development. He directed the collectors to make prompt decisions and ensure 100% allocation.

Geeta Bhawan with modern facilities

The Chief Minister said that state government has decided to construct Geeta Bhawan in urban areas. These buildings are not being prepared as religious structures, but as modern town halls. These town halls should meet community needs of the city and also include digital library facilities. The construction of buildings should be completed within a fixed time frame.

Master Plan for Religious Sites

The Chief Minister said that a work plan has been approved for comprehensive development of Chitrakoot in Satna district. Collectors should work with SADA (Special Area Development Authority) to develop Chitrakoot. He said work is also being done for development of several religious sites, including Omkareshwar. In addition, the Narmada Parikrama route is being developed. Since a large number of devotees visit these religious sites, it is necessary that their comprehensive development is completed within the prescribed time.

Timely Payment of Compensation under TDR

Compensation is being given for land acquired under TDR in urban areas. This includes issue of widening urban roads. The Chief Minister said that compensation should be paid on time for the land acquired under TDR. He also emphasized proper traffic management in urban areas.

Comprehensive Development of Metropolitan Cities

CM Dr Yadav said that a decision has been taken to prepare Bhopal-Indore metropolitan regions in the state. Collectors of these areas should prepare plans on how these metropolitan regions can be developed as hubs for employment, industrialisation, education and medical facilities. Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain has directed strengthening electricity, water and public transport facilities according to urban needs.

Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing, Shri Sanjay Dubey, said that by 2047, every citizen should have fully equipped permanent housing and cities should be free of slums. Waste management, renewable energy and circular economy should be included in cleanliness initiatives. Safe and continuous water supply should be provided to every home through tap connections, and social security should be provided to workers in unorganized areas. He said that under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 1.0, 869,531 houses have been completed. More than 76,300 houses are yet to be completed. Collectors should complete pending houses quickly. Under PMAY 2.0, 1 million houses will be prepared in the state. Under Swachh Bharat Mission, 100% of houses and commercial areas in the state are being covered under waste collection. Urban bodies have been provided 7,115 waste collection vehicles. Indore, Jabalpur, and Dewas were awarded nationally for good work under the Clean Air Program. Madhya Pradesh received national-level awards under PM SVANidhi scheme in 2023-24. During the conference, presentations were made on air quality improvement by Indore Collector, PMAY by Gwalior Collector, and best work in water conservation by Khandwa Collector.
