Trump Announces Israel-Hamas Agreement on First Phase of Gaza Peace Plan

Washington, Oct 2025 : US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have both agreed to the first phase of a Gaza peace plan, marking what he described as a major step toward achieving a “strong, durable, and everlasting peace” in the region.

“This means that all of the hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward peace,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday (local time).

He expressed gratitude to the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for facilitating what he called a “historic and unprecedented event.”

Speaking to reporters earlier at the White House, Trump said he might travel to the Middle East “sometime toward the end of the week” to oversee progress on the peace plan.

The announcement follows days of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh. According to Al-Qahera News TV, mediators confirmed that an agreement had been reached covering all provisions and implementation mechanisms related to the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal. A final draft of the agreement is reportedly being finalized.

The deal aims to end the ongoing conflict, secure the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and allow the entry of large-scale humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Further details are expected to be released soon, according to the mediators.

The negotiations have involved delegations from the United States, Qatar, and Turkey, alongside representatives of both Hamas and Israel. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said in a televised address on Wednesday that the talks were “progressing positively,” adding that Egypt remained committed to supporting peace and regional stability.

The current conflict began on October 7, 2023, when violence erupted between Israel and Hamas. Since then, Israeli airstrikes have devastated large parts of Gaza, leading to widespread displacement and famine. According to Gaza’s health authorities, at least 67,183 people have been killed and 169,841 injured since the onset of the war.

If implemented successfully, Trump’s proposed Gaza peace plan could mark the most significant diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East in years, potentially paving the way for a permanent cessation of hostilities.
