Approval Granted for Reconstruction of Goregaon Multispeciality Veterinary Hospital

Mumbai, Oct 2025 : The Maharashtra government has approved the reconstruction of a modern Multispeciality Veterinary Hospital within the premises of the Mumbai Veterinary College at Goregaon. The project, with an initial estimated cost of ₹58.22 crore, has received administrative approval from the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.

The approval follows the persistent efforts of Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, whose proposal received a positive response from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Minister Shelar stated that the new facility will provide state-of-the-art treatment and services for both domestic and stray animals in the suburbs.

The hospital will be constructed with a ground plus three-floor structure, covering an area of 10,210 square meters. It will feature advanced and comprehensive medical services for small and large animals alike. The new facility is expected to significantly benefit residents from various parts of Mumbai who seek medical care for their pets and livestock.

The project plan also includes architectural approvals, installation of solar energy systems, and incorporation of eco-friendly design elements.

This long-awaited decision fulfills a long-standing demand of animal lovers, farmers, and local residents of Mumbai. The upcoming modern multispeciality veterinary hospital is expected to enhance both the quality and accessibility of animal healthcare in the metropolitan area.

Minister Ashish Shelar has pledged to ensure the project’s timely completion, emphasizing its importance in strengthening Mumbai’s veterinary infrastructure and advancing animal welfare.
