Prashant Kishor Slams Nitish Kumar Government, Says Bihar Youth Struggle for Chhath Travel While Bullet Trains Run in Gujarat
West Champaran, Oct 2025 : Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, alleging that while “bullet trains are being built in Gujarat,” the youth of Bihar “are struggling to find seats on trains to return home for Chhath.” Kishor, who was addressing reporters in West Champaran, said his movement was born here three and a half years ago with the mission of breaking Bihar’s political stagnation and offering a new alternative to the state’s people.
“This is the birthplace of Jan Suraj, where the idea took shape three and a half years ago,” he said. “We have resolved to end the political bondage of Bihar’s people — where voters choose between two forces out of fear, not conviction. Some vote for the BJP fearing Lalu Prasad Yadav, while others support Lalu’s party fearing the BJP. The time has come for Bihar to decide whether it wants to remain trapped in this system or bring real change.”
Drawing a contrast between Gujarat’s infrastructure progress and Bihar’s persistent challenges, Kishor said, “A bullet train is being built in Gujarat at a cost of ₹1 lakh crore, yet the youth of Bihar are unable to find a seat to come home for Chhath Puja. This shows the priorities of our leadership.”
In another development, independent candidate from Gopalganj, Anoop Kumar Srivastava, joined the Jan Suraj Party in the presence of Prashant Kishor. His induction came shortly after the party’s candidate, Shashi Shekhar Sinha, withdrew his nomination from the Gopalganj assembly constituency. Following Sinha’s withdrawal, Jan Suraj officially extended its support to Srivastava for the upcoming elections.
The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections are shaping up as a major contest between the ruling NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance. The NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. On the other hand, the Grand Alliance comprises the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Voting in Bihar will be held in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
