CM Patel’s Initiative to Promote Environmental Conservation and Tree Nurturing Values Among Anganwadi Children
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated a pioneering tree-planting initiative at 53,065 Anganwadi centers across the state, as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Kem Naam’ campaign. During the launch event in Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister planted a sapling alongside Anganwadi children. On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi urged all Indians to support environmental conservation and tackle global warming challenges by participating in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam’ tree-planting and nurturing campaign. The Prime Minister envisions that each person plants a tree to honor their mother or together with their mother, thereby protecting Mother Earth and expanding the green cover.
Chief Minister has set an ambitious goal to plant 12.20 crore trees by September 2024 and 17 crore trees by March 2025 under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam’ campaign in Gujarat, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for environmental protection. Besides, the Chief Minister has adopted an eco-friendly approach to instill a sense of environmental conservation, love for trees, and tree nurturing among Anganwadi children from an early age. The CM has directed the Women and Child Welfare Department to involve all 53,065 Anganwadi centers across the state in this extensive tree plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam’ campaign.
To mark the launch of this statewide initiative, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the campaign on the first day of the holy month of Shravan by planting a tree at an Anganwadi in Sector 3A New, Gandhinagar, alongside the children. As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam’ initiative, over 3.15 lakh trees will be planted across all Anganwadi centers in the state. During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with the Anganwadi children, distributed fruit and plant saplings, and observed a demonstration of dishes prepared from the take-home ration.
The event was attended by Minister of Women and Child Welfare Smt. Bhanuben Babariya, Mayor of Gandhinagar Smt. Miraben Patel, MLA Smt. Ritaben, the chairmen of various committees including the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation, the Deputy Mayor, Municipal Councillors, dignitaries, residents of the sector, as well as Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Shri Nirala, Commissioner Shri Ranjit Kumar, Director Smt. Kumudben, and senior officers of the city-district administration.
