Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi at Bihar Rally, Says ‘He Only Cares About Votes, Not People’s Pain’
Patna, Oct 2025 : Amid heightened political activity ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday addressed a massive rally in the Sakra constituency of Muzaffarpur, launching a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling NDA government.
Braving rain, Gandhi addressed thousands of supporters and accused the Prime Minister of being driven solely by electoral gains. “Narendra Modi doesn’t care about anything except votes. If you ask him to dance on stage and promise him your vote, he will start dancing. He can do anything for votes,” the Congress leader said, amid loud cheers from the crowd.
He alleged that PM Modi “pretends to care about religion” only for political benefit, claiming that his actions reveal hypocrisy. “While people were taking holy dips and performing rituals in the Yamuna during Chhath Puja, Modi was bathing in a special swimming pool built exclusively for him. This shows that he has nothing to do with the faith of Bihar — he only wants your votes,” Gandhi said.
The Congress MP also accused the Modi government of being pro-corporate and anti-poor, saying that the Prime Minister had “ruined” small businesses and local industries. “After elections, you will not find Narendra Modi with farmers or labourers. He has only worked for a handful of industrialists. Our dream is to make products that are ‘Made in Bihar’, not ‘Made in China’,” he said.
Sharing the stage with Gandhi were RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani. The three leaders presented a united front and urged voters to defeat what they called the ‘double-engine government’ of the NDA, accusing it of neglecting the poor, backward, and minority communities.
Tejashwi Yadav and Sahani echoed Gandhi’s call for change, highlighting unemployment, inflation, and farmer distress as key issues. “This government has betrayed the youth and the marginalized. It is time to give Bihar a government that truly works for its people,” Yadav said.
Continuing his attack, Gandhi said that the education system in Bihar had “collapsed” due to administrative apathy. “Education has become meaningless here. Paper leaks have destroyed the dreams of hardworking students. Biharis are forced to migrate to other states, taking loans for education and jobs, only to struggle for survival — you can see many of them living under the AIIMS flyover in Delhi,” he remarked.
He also reiterated the INDIA bloc’s commitment to conducting a nationwide caste census, terming it essential for achieving social justice. “We have been demanding a caste census so that every community gets its rightful share, but Prime Minister Modi and the BJP remain silent. They are against social justice,” he said, adding that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was “completely under the BJP’s control.”
Gandhi told the gathering that the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) would form an inclusive government that represents every caste, creed, and region. “Now is the time to change this government. We will form a government that represents every caste and every religion — a government of all Indians. This is the guarantee of the Mahagathbandhan,” he declared.
As part of his poll promises, Gandhi announced that if the alliance came to power, it would establish one of India’s best universities in Bihar within five years, aimed at ending the state’s long-standing problem of student migration.
The Sakra rally, one of the largest held by the Congress in recent months, marks the beginning of the party’s aggressive campaign in Bihar. With the elections approaching, the Congress and its INDIA bloc partners are intensifying their efforts to challenge the NDA’s hold over the state.
