Tej Pratap Yadav Targets Brother Tejashwi in Mahua, Escalating Family Feud Ahead of Bihar Elections
Patna, Nov 2025 : The simmering family feud within the Yadav clan escalated sharply on Tuesday after Tej Pratap Yadav, national president of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD) and candidate from the Mahua Assembly constituency, launched an unusually sharp attack on his younger brother and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav. The remarks came immediately after Tejashwi concluded his campaign event in Mahua.
Speaking to reporters, Tej Pratap said, “He is still a child. After the elections, we will give him a rattle.” He added that if Tejashwi entered his political turf, he would reciprocate by campaigning in his brother’s strongholds, saying, “If he comes to our area, we will also go to his area. Then we will go to Raghopur.”
The comments underscore the deepening political rivalry between the two sons of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who now find themselves on opposing sides of the election battle in Mahua. Tej Pratap, who won from the seat in 2015 as an RJD candidate, is contesting again but under his newly formed party after being expelled from the RJD earlier this year. His exit from the party followed months of public disagreements and personal disputes within the Yadav family, ultimately prompting him to establish the JJD.
In Mahua, Tej Pratap is up against Mukesh Roshan—the sitting MLA and official RJD candidate backed by the Mahagathbandhan alliance. Roshan, once a party colleague of Tej Pratap, is now directly challenging Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son in a constituency that has turned into a symbol of the widening rift within the family.
Meanwhile, statewide campaigning is reaching its final stretch as Bihar prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections. The last phase of campaigning begins Monday, giving major political parties just two more days to appeal to voters. Prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, have intensified their outreach in recent days.
Prime Minister Modi addressed public meetings in Saharsa and Katihar districts, while Kharge targeted the NDA government during a rally in Vaishali. Home Minister Shah spoke at rallies in Shivhar, Sitamarhi, and Madhubani, announcing several development plans for the Mithilanchal region. Last week, the Prime Minister also led a massive roadshow in Patna and held rallies in Bhojpur and Nawada.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases—on November 6 and November 11. Counting of votes is scheduled for November 14. The Election Commission has already released the full schedule for the 243-seat Assembly, and the Model Code of Conduct is in force across the state. The first phase includes voting in 121 constituencies, followed by 122 constituencies in the second phase.
