National Tribal Art Exhibition ‘Adi Chitra’ Inaugurated by Minister Dr. Ashok Wuique

Mumbai, Nov 2025 : The ‘Adi Chitra’ National Tribal Art Exhibition, organised jointly by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the Janjatiya Gaurav Year, was inaugurated by Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ashok Wuique.

Present on the occasion were Vijay Waghmare, Secretary of the Tribal Development Department; Deepali Masirkar, Director at the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs; and Dr. Tarul Bhavsar, Regional Manager, TRIFED. The exhibition has been set up at the P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Prabhadevi.

The exhibition features more than 100 traditional tribal paintings from across the country, showcasing major art forms such as Warli (Maharashtra), Saura and Pattachitra (Odisha), Gond and Bhil (Madhya Pradesh), and Pithora (Gujarat).
A special attraction at the exhibition is the live demonstration of Warli painting by six tribal artists.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from November 10 to 16, 2025, every day between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Organisers have urged people to visit the exhibition to experience India’s rich, diverse, and vibrant tribal art and culture.
