CM Announces Several Key Measures on Tribal Pride Day

Raipur, Nov 2025 : A grand and dignified celebration of the National Tribal Pride Day was held at the Police Parade Ground in Bilaspur on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Addressing the large gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the history of India’s tribal communities is filled with valour, sacrifice, and pride. He stated that the contribution of tribal heroes to India’s freedom struggle is unparalleled and unforgettable, yet they never received the rightful recognition they deserved in the pages of history.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a life-size statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda would be installed in Bilaspur and that a major square in the city would also be named after him. He further declared the renaming of the Lal Khadan overbridge after Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the establishment of state-of-the-art post-matric hostels (300-seater for boys and 200-seater for girls), and the construction of a community hall for the tribal community in Kota block.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has corrected this historic neglect and has undertaken unprecedented efforts for the honour, upliftment, and development of tribal communities. He recalled that the Prime Minister personally visited the land where Birsa Munda lived and launched several public welfare schemes aimed at tribal development. Declaring Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Tribal Pride Day has ignited a renewed spirit of self-respect and pride across the nation.

CM Sai informed that Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Rani Durgavati Museum in Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Museum in Raipur, honouring the contributions of tribal heroes from across India. These museums are also available in digital format to help the younger generation connect better with their history.

Recalling former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that it was Vajpayee who created the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, giving tribal communities a new identity. He also established the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, ensuring special budgetary provisions for tribal development.

The Chief Minister highlighted that under the Dharati Aaba Gram Utkarsh Yojana, development work is progressing rapidly in more than 6,600 villages across the country through investments exceeding ₹80,000 crore. Additionally, the PM Janman Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) is expanding critical infrastructure such as roads, housing, and basic amenities. He noted that Chhattisgarh ranks first in the implementation of these schemes and has been honoured by the President of India for its achievements.

During the programme, the Chief Minister congratulated the people of Bilaspur district on the inauguration and foundation-laying of development works worth over ₹329.77 crore. Talented tribal students, cultural performers, social workers, and artist Deepika Dhruv (for sketch work) were also felicitated. The Chief Minister held discussions with key tribal representatives and assured them that their demands would be fulfilled.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao presided over the event. He said it was a day of pride and good fortune for Bilaspur to receive development projects worth over ₹329 crore. He described Bhagwan Birsa Munda as a great hero of the freedom movement and urged everyone to visit the Tribal Museum in Naya Raipur.
