National Press Day 2025 Observed
November 2025: National Press Day 2025 was meaningfully observed today at the I&PR Auditorium, Treasury Square. The event was jointly organized by the MJA General Headquarters and the IPR & P&S Department. Pi Betsy Zothanpari, Secretary of the IPR & P&S Department, graced the occasion as the chief guest. During the programme, outstanding contributions were also acknowledged—Pu L.R. Sailo was honoured for his remarkable efforts during the Mizoram crisis, and Dr. Lalnunkimi Colney, the first Mizo woman and the first among MJA members to obtain a Doctoral Degree in Mass Communication, was also felicitated.
In her address, Pi Betsy Zothanpari highlighted that journalists play a crucial role as important communicators for the nation. She emphasized the significance of their responsibility in guiding the public and supporting good governance. She urged journalists to continue maintaining diligence, accuracy, and dedication in their work. As the world advances, she noted that people now regard journalists as one of the most trustworthy sources of knowledge. She encouraged the media to continue sharing verified, responsible, and well-researched information with the public. She also expressed her hope that National Press Day would always be observed with joy and purpose.
Today’s programme included participation from MJA members, leaders, officials from the IPR & P&S Department, and other distinguished guests. The event was chaired by Pi K. Vanlalsangi, Director of I&PR. Pu C. Lalrambuatsaiha, President of the MJA, delivered words of appreciation to the attendees. Speeches of gratitude were offered by the award recipients, Pu L.R. Sailo and Dr. Lalnunkimi Colney.
Pu Pratap Chhetri, Deputy Director of I&PR, conducted an insightful session on this year’s National Press Day theme—“The Role of Print Media in the Digital Age”—during which an interactive discussion and Q&A session were held. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Pu C. Lalhmachhuana, Vice President of the MJA.
