Aizawl, Nov 2025: To promote national unity and cultural harmony, 20 students and 2 teachers selected from Lunglei, Siaha, and Lawngtlai districts—along with accompanying Assam Rifles officials—were flagged off today for the National Integration Tour 2025, an initiative of the Assam Rifles. The flag-off ceremony was conducted at Raj Bhavan, Aizawl, by the Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.).

Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh expressed appreciation for the students participating in the tour. He emphasized that the knowledge and exposure gained during the journey would not only enhance their learning but also broaden their perspectives and skills. He noted that the tour would begin from the newly inaugurated Sairang Railway Station and that the experience of traveling by train to distant districts would be memorable for the students.

The Governor stated that visiting major cities across India would be a valuable opportunity. As the students would experience India’s rich diversity—varied cultures, languages, and lifestyles—he encouraged them to learn and understand these differences with an open mind. He added that India’s cultural and ethnic diversity is a strength that contributes to unity and harmony.

Highlighting the significance of cultural integration, the Governor urged the students to maintain curiosity throughout the journey, interact freely with their hosts, and build confidence. He expressed hope that the National Integration Tour would successfully promote understanding and unity among the youth. He advised them to document their experiences in diaries so that the knowledge gained is not forgotten.

During the farewell programme held on the Raj Bhavan Circular Lawn, the Officer-in-Charge of the National Integration Tour briefed the gathering on the tour details. The Governor presented the NIT caps to the participants. Brigadier Puspendar Sorayan, DIG, HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles, and other officers were also present during the ceremony.

The participants of NIT 2025 will depart from Mizoram and travel to Guwahati. Their itinerary includes visits to important and historically significant places in Guwahati, Amritsar, and Delhi, including several notable military establishments. The tour aims to enhance the students’ understanding of India’s culture, traditions, skills, and cuisine, ultimately enriching their academic growth.

As per the schedule, the team will complete the tour on 29 November 2025, after which they will return to Mizoram.
