CM Dhami Urges IAS Officers to Adopt Fast, Transparent, and Citizen-Centric Governance

An informal meeting of Uttarakhand IAS officers was held today at the Chief Minister’s residence under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The meeting was attended by all senior and junior IAS officers, including Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, in the context of the ongoing Administrative Officers’ Conference (AOC).

CM Dhami welcomed the officers, emphasizing that the meeting was not a formal address but an opportunity to share heartfelt and sensitive thoughts regarding governance. He praised the administration’s dedication, hard work, and foresight, which have contributed significantly to Uttarakhand’s achievements over the past 25 years. “You all have demonstrated exemplary leadership and sensitive administration even under challenging circumstances. For this, I extend my heartfelt gratitude,” he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement, “This decade is Uttarakhand’s decade,” the CM emphasized that the next five years will be crucial for the state. “The administration must work with speed, transparency, and results orientation. Every plan and decision should be goal-driven and citizen-focused. Processes should be time-bound, and their impact visible at the ground level. Accountability must be clear in every step,” he added.

CM Dhami reminded officers of the core purpose of public service: it is not for personal gain, position, or security, but to serve society. “Your decisions directly affect millions of people, requiring sensitivity, foresight, and factual analysis. The public’s trust must be the highest priority,” he stated.

Highlighting examples of exemplary officers from history, the CM said, “The prestige of a post lasts only during your tenure, but the respect for your work is lifelong. Treat your position not merely as a job but as a sacred opportunity for social service.”

He warned against bureaucratic indifference, delays, or unresponsiveness, urging officers to ensure monthly reviews, continuous monitoring, and site inspections in their areas. Decisions must be taken promptly and wisely, and benefits of schemes must reach eligible citizens with transparency and timeliness.

CM Dhami concluded by underlining the government’s commitment to making Uttarakhand a leading state under the mantra of “Uncompromising Resolve,” expressing confidence that IAS officers will play a key role in achieving this vision.

The Chief Secretary also shared insights from the ongoing Administrative Officers’ Conference.
