“This is Delhi Government’s humble shardanjali to Hind Di Chadar, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji,”- CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, Nov 2025 : The Delhi Government has announced a public holiday on 25 November 2025 (Tuesday) to mark the sacred and historic occasion of the 350th Shaheedi Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. This day will provide an opportunity for citizens to remember and pay heartfelt homage to Guru Sahib Ji’s unmatched balidan, divine wisdom, and his unparalleled contribution to safeguarding dharam, human dignity and freedom of conscience.

Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said that the life and shahadat of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji stand as an eternal symbol of resistance against tyranny and injustice. She said that Guru Sahib Ji was not only the revered Ninth Guru of the Sikh Panth but also a protector of humanity- a divine figure who embraced shahadat to uphold the right of every individual to follow their faith without fear.

The Chief Minister said that Guru Sahib Ji’s supreme sacrifice is an immortal chapter in the history of the world. His shaurya, nirmalta, compassion and unwavering commitment to sarbat da bhala continue to guide generations. She added that Guru Sahib Ji’s teachings of sewa, sahansheelta, harmony and universal brotherhood remain profoundly relevant today, reminding us that protecting another’s freedom is the highest form of righteousness.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the declaration of the public holiday is not a mere administrative step, but a deeply respectful gesture, a humble tribute by the Delhi Government to honour the sacred legacy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, revered across the world as Hind Di Chadar.

She appealed to all citizens of Delhi to observe the day with devotion, unity, and humility, and to imbibe Guru Sahib Ji’s teachings in everyday life through acts of sewa, compassion and harmony.

The Delhi Government reaffirms its commitment to uphold the values that Guru Sahib Ji lived and attained shahadat for- justice, freedom, peace and the protection of all.
