Metro Railways Kolkata Organised Awareness Workshop On Prevention Of Sexual Harassment.

Dr. Archana Majumdar, Honourable Member, National Commission for Women, visited Metro Rail Bhavan to address an awareness building workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) today, 24.11.2025 in Metro Railway and to review the implementation of POSH Act. Mr. Subhransu S. Mishra, General Manager, Metro Railway, presided over this workshop.

In his address, Mr. Mishra emphasised to ensure that women employees be provided with all necessary facilities and an enabling environment to discharge their duties without any difficulty. He highlighted the importance of fostering a comfortable, respectful and gender-equal workplace.

In her address, Dr. Archana Majumdar shared valuable insights on the provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, the roles and responsibilities of the Internal Committee and the mechanisms available for ensuring a safe and secure workplace for women employees.

Mrs. Deepali Srivastava, Advocate, National Commission for Women, gave a brief presentation on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, explaining their key provisions, for women and practical guidance on how these laws are to be implemented.

Senior officers and women employees of Metro Railway were present in this workshop.
