Stakeholder Consultation For Mizoram Ginger Held In New Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 2025: The Government of Mizoram, in collaboration with NITI Aayog, Government of India, today organised a high-level stakeholder consultation titled “Stakeholders Consultation for Mizoram Ginger Produce” at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The programme was attended by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma.
The consultation focused on strengthening market linkages, improving processing facilities, addressing value-chain challenges, and creating better opportunities for ginger farmers and entrepreneurs in Mizoram.
Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), industry representatives, and entrepreneurs engaged in open discussions on strategies to expand markets for Mizoram ginger across India and international destinations, develop stronger trade linkages, and build an efficient ecosystem for processing and export.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Mizoram has emerged as one of India’s major ginger-producing states in the past two years, with its produce widely recognised for superior quality. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting both farmers and investors. To ensure stable returns, the Government of Mizoram currently provides a Minimum Support Price of ₹50 per kilogram. He also highlighted improvements in the state’s industry and investment policies to promote ease of investment, adding that opportunities extend beyond ginger to other agricultural and value-added products.
He invited stakeholders to participate in the Ginger Buyer–Seller Meet scheduled to be held in Aizawl on 5–6 December 2025.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Dr. V. K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, and the NITI Aayog team for their guidance and support in organising the consultation.
The day-long programme began with an inaugural session chaired by Dr. V. K. Paul, followed by a presentation by Pi Ramdinliani, Special Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, outlining the state’s initiatives and the growing potential of Mizoram ginger in national and global markets.

More than 60 participants from various government departments and the private sector took part in the consultation.
NITI Aayog recommended that Mizoram be designated the “Ginger Capital of India”, and emphasised the importance of maintaining the organic nature of its ginger, adopting advanced processing technologies, and enhancing its presence in domestic and international markets. These recommendations will be followed by targeted action plans for implementation.
